At the last sitting, the panel presided over by Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkornoo granted a request by Richard Dela Sky to amend and refile the injunction motion.

The Supreme Court of Ghana is expected to hear the case of lawyer cum journalist, Richard Dela Sky, against Parliament's passage of the Anti-LGBTQI Bill.

At the last sitting, the panel presided over by Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkornoo granted a request by Richard Dela Sky to amend and refile the injunction motion as well as the statement of the case and all additional issues of law he wishes to rely on.

A hearing notice issued by the Registrar of the apex court, H/H Ellen Offei Ayeh(Mrs) to the parties indicates that;

“Take notice that the above-mentioned case has been fixed for Wednesday the 3rd day of July 2024 at 9:30 am for a hearing. If the case is called and you do not appear to answer, the Court will proceed to hear same without you.”

Richard Sky's suit is one of the four challenging Parliament's passage of the Bill.

The Judicial Service, on May 28, granted permission for the media to cover all the suits live.

The legal practitioner asserts per his suit that the bill passed by Parliament contravenes various articles of the constitution and thus should be declared null or void.

He is thus seeking an injunction barring any attempts to enforce the provisions of the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill 2024 particularly those criminalizing same-sex relationships and related advocacy efforts.
