The extension was granted after state lawyers told the court they had been unable to meet the original timeline because of what they described as unavoidable administrative difficulties.
The legal challenge to the Office of the Special Prosecutor took another procedural turn on Thursday after the Supreme Court granted the Attorney-General’s Department extra time to file its statement of case.
The extension was granted after state lawyers told the court they had been unable to meet the original timeline because of what they described as unavoidable administrative difficulties.
The court has now directed the Attorney-General’s Department to submit its filing within seven days.
The case itself was brought by private citizen Noah Adamtey, who is questioning whether Parliament had the constitutional authority to create the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
When the matter was called on 16 April 2026, Adamtey was not present in court.
The latest development comes at a time of broader legal uncertainty around the OSP’s powers.
