In her petition to the High Court, Bright raises concerns about the credibility of the 2024 election results, citing alleged irregularities that influenced the final outcome.
Ebi Bright, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Tema Central in the 2024 parliamentary elections, has filed a legal challenge against Charles Forson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), disputing his election as the constituency’s Member of Parliament.
In her suit, Bright raises concerns about the credibility of the 2024 election results, citing alleged irregularities that influenced the outcome. She asserts that the Electoral Commission (EC) wrongly declared Forson as the winner and is requesting the court’s intervention to either annul the results or mandate a re-election in the constituency.
As legal proceedings progress, both parties are gearing up to present their respective arguments, with the case expected to be heard in the coming weeks.
Additionally, Bright claims that certain NPP polling agents disrupted the collation process at the Chemu SHS center, which she believes compromised the transparency of the final results. She argues that these actions undermined the fairness of the election and violated electoral regulations.
Her petition challenges the legitimacy of Forson’s declaration as MP-elect, asserting that procedural lapses may have contravened constitutional and electoral guidelines. Under the legal framework, all respondents are required to submit their defense within eight days of being served notice, ensuring the case moves forward efficiently.
Bright’s legal team is urging the court to conduct a thorough review of the electoral process in Tema Central and deliver a ruling that upholds the integrity of the election.
