This application challenges a December 20 High Court decision directing the Electoral Commission (EC) to re-collate parliamentary election results in nine disputed constituencies.
The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a judicial review application today, Friday, December 27, filed by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
This application challenges a December 20 High Court decision directing the Electoral Commission (EC) to re-collate parliamentary election results in nine disputed constituencies.
The High Court's directive was in response to a mandamus application brought by New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidates from the affected areas.
The court instructed the EC to carry out its constitutional mandate by verifying and re-collating the results in those constituencies.
The EC has completed re-collation in seven constituencies, leaving Dome/Kwabenya and Ablekuma North pending. However, the NDC has strongly opposed the recollation process and the court’s ruling, deeming it unlawful and lacking merit.
The party argues that the High Court overstepped its authority, compromising transparency, procedural fairness, and the credibility of the electoral process.
