At the Judicial Service of Ghana (JSG) staff durbar held in Wa, Justice Amaliboba cautioned that any employee found guilty of misconduct would face sanctions.

Supreme Court Judge, Justice Hafisata Amaliboba, has called on employees of the Judicial Service to demonstrate professionalism in the execution of their responsibilities in order to uphold the dignity and credibility of the institution.

According to her, the conduct of staff was crucial because of the vital role the Service plays in governance, the administration of justice, and the preservation of law and order.

At the Judicial Service of Ghana (JSG) staff durbar held in Wa, Justice Amaliboba cautioned that any employee found guilty of misconduct would face sanctions.

The durbar, organised annually, offers management and staff of the Service a platform to discuss issues relating to justice delivery and staff welfare.

Representing Acting Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, Justice Amaliboba acknowledged the many difficulties faced by staff, particularly with regard to their service conditions.

She revealed that a new constitutional instrument with detailed provisions on staff conditions would soon take effect.

“So, I’m happy to inform you that the attorney general has laid the regulations before parliament and it is expected that same will become law upon the inflection of 21 days.

We, therefore, expect that with a new CI enforced, your conditions of service will improve significantly”, she explained.

She further noted that the constitutional instrument would not only enhance service delivery but also introduce disciplinary provisions to guarantee adherence to the highest ethical standards required of the Service.

Acting Judicial Secretary, Dr. Cyracus B. Bapuuroh, encouraged closer collaboration between management and staff to achieve efficient service delivery. He urged employees to respect due processes when applying for annual or study leave, and to pursue professional courses relevant to the Service so that their certificates would qualify them for promotion.

Dr. Bapuuroh praised the media for its support in educating the public on judicial processes and justice administration.

“The media play a very critical role in shaping public opinion and fostering a better understanding of the judiciary’s role in our democracy”, he explained.

Supervising High Court Judge in Wa, His Honour Alhaji Yussif Assibey, expressed gratitude to Judicial Service management for efforts to improve facilities at the Wa High Court.

“Indeed, the Court Complex is our target, it is our prayer that sooner than later, that magnificent edifice will be completed for our use”, he stated.

Some staff at the durbar proposed assistance for interpreters to study French in order to eliminate language barriers in service delivery.

In addition, retired employees of the Judicial Service of Ghana were honoured during the gathering with certificates and cash rewards in recognition of their dedication.
