An 18-year-old man has appeared before the Adabraka District Court accused of assaulting a security guard at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Ridge.
Gabriel Nii Offei Dimson pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The court granted him bail of GH¢20,000 with two sureties and adjourned proceedings to 15 April 2026.
Prosecutors said the complainant, Noah Foli, is a security officer at the hospital, while the accused lives in Osu, Accra.
According to the prosecution, on 18 February at around 17:00, Mr Dimson went to the facility’s maternity ward to visit his wife, who was there to give birth.
The court heard that he positioned himself in an area where visitors were not permitted, close to where the security officer was on duty.
Prosecutors said Mr Foli asked him to move away and directed him to a designated waiting area. The accused initially complied but later returned to the restricted spot.
When the security officer challenged him again, an argument broke out, during which Mr Dimson is alleged to have struck him.
The prosecution said the security guard fell heavily, lost consciousness and was later admitted to the hospital’s emergency unit, where he has been receiving treatment.
Mr Dimson was arrested as investigations continue.
