The General Legal Council exercised this magnanimity at its emergency meeting held on Monday, November 21, 2022, pursuant to S.13(1)(d) of the Legal Profession Act, 1960.

The General Legal Council has approved an additional 177 candidates as having passed the 2022 Ghana School of Law entrance exams.

This number is an addition to the already released list of 522 persons who were published as having successfully sailed through the exams.

The GLC exercised this magnanimity at its emergency meeting held on Monday, November 21, 2022, pursuant to S.13(1)(d) of the Legal Profession Act, 1960.

As it stands now, the total number of candidates who passed the 2022 edition of the entrance exams is  699 representing a 26% success or pass rate.

It is said that this year, some of the examiners were lecturers drawn from the various law faculties of the various universities in Ghana.

Looking at this pass rate, therefore, leaps out the conversation about whether there is a lapse relative to the training of these students at the various faculties of law or whether the fault is in the individual students.

PREVIOUS PERFORMANCES

2021

Last year, 2824 candidates sat for the exams, of which only 790 representing 28%, passed.

However, an additional 499 were admitted later by the Ghana School of Law soaring up the number compared to the previous year.

2020

In 2020, a total of 1,045 candidates representing 38% passed out of a total of 2,763 candidates who sat for the Ghana School of Law entrance exams.

In that year, 1718 representing 62% sadly could not meet the 50% pass mark set for qualification into the school.

Notwithstanding, this number was a significant improvement on what was experienced in the 2019 entrance exams.

2019

128 of the 1,820 candidates who sat for the exam passed to enroll in the Ghana School of Law.

We congratulate the successful candidates and to those who couldn’t make it this year, we wish you well as you prepare to take up another opportunity next year(2023).
