Speaking at the event, President Mahama emphasized that the occasion was not merely ceremonial, but a powerful reaffirmation of Ghana’s commitment to the rule of law. He urged the judges to uphold integrity, fairness, and public confidence.

He described the High Court as the “people’s court” — the level of the judiciary where citizens feel the direct impact of justice.

The president advised the judges to remain free from corruption, both in substance and perception.

President Mahama further linked justice to national development, warning that economic progress cannot be sustained without a credible and trusted justice system.

“Justice and development are not separate ideals; they are inseparable twins of the same mother,” he said. “A nation that invests in infrastructure but neglects the rule of law builds its progress on shifting sands.”
