This unprecedented number marks the largest single batch of legal practitioners to be called to the Nigerian Bar in the country’s history.

A total of 5,725 new lawyers were officially admitted to the Bar during a three-day ceremony held in Abuja from July 8 to 10, 2025.

This unprecedented number marks the largest single batch of legal practitioners to be called to the Nigerian Bar in the country’s history.

According to the Body of Benchers, a total of 5,734 candidates were admitted—5,725 of them having successfully passed the June 2025 Bar final examinations, with an additional nine candidates joining from earlier sessions.

Administering the oath of office, Chairman of the Body of Benchers, Olukayode Ariwoola, reminded the newly robed lawyers that the right to practice law in Nigeria comes with a profound obligation to uphold justice, integrity, and professional discipline.

Last year, a total of 4,412 lawyers were sworn in during a ceremony led by retired Supreme Court Justice Mary Ukaego Peter-Odili, who then served as Chairman of the Body of Benchers.
