The Accra Circuit Court has granted GH¢100,000 bail to a 59-year-old block layer accused of unlawfully possessing substances suspected to be narcotic drugs.
Razak Suleman was admitted to bail by Her Honour Emmanuella Sarah Asmah with two sureties, both of whom must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
As part of his bail conditions, Suleman has been directed to report to the investigator handling the case every Monday and Friday until further orders from the court.
His plea was not taken, and the matter has been adjourned to November 10, 2026, when he is expected to formally respond to the charge.
Suleman is facing a charge of unlawful control of narcotic drugs contrary to Section 37(1) and (2)(b) of the Narcotics Control Commission Act, 2020 (Act 1019).
According to the prosecution, officers from the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Operations Team acted on intelligence and went to Suleman’s residence at Weija in the Greater Accra Region around midnight on October 3, 2026.
He was subsequently arrested over suspected involvement in narcotics-related activities.
A search of the premises allegedly uncovered 48 rubber wraps containing dried plant material in the kitchen.
Police also reportedly found another quantity of dried plant material concealed inside a gas cylinder.
The prosecution claims Suleman admitted during investigations that he knew about and owned the substances recovered from the premises.
The exhibits have since been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for examination to determine their exact composition.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Erasmus Kudasi Dzidzon represented the Republic, while Victor Quartey appeared for Suleman.
