The High Court in Accra has granted bail to Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC.
He was admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with two sureties to be justified.
Justice Halimah El-Alawa Abdul-Baasit also ordered him to report to the Criminal Investigation Department headquarters once every two weeks.
As part of the bail conditions, Abronye DC is to surrender his travel documents to the court registry.
He is also barred from travelling outside the court’s jurisdiction without permission.
The bail application was moved on Thursday, May 21, 2026, by Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, who was led by former Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame.
Deputy Attorney-General Dr Justice Srem-Sai told the court that the Attorney-General was not opposing the application.
He said the prosecution had waived its right to object to bail.
Abronye DC had earlier been remanded by the Circuit Court for two weeks over investigations into alleged misinformation and offensive public statements.
The High Court’s decision means he will be released from custody once he satisfies the bail conditions.
