The Accra Circuit Court has granted Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye and Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono Region, bail in the sum of GH¢50,000 with one surety.
The decision followed a motion filed by one of his lawyers, Daniel Nii Martey Addo, seeking an abridgement of time in relation to the case.
The next adjourned date had initially been set for September 19, 2025, but defence counsel argued that the date needed to be brought forward due to his client’s health concerns.
Prosecutors, represented by Chief Inspector Jonas Lawer, did not challenge the request. The court therefore granted the application and admitted Abronye who was absent from proceeding to bail.
It also ordered that he must report to the police once every week, specifically on Wednesdays.
Abronye has entered a plea of not guilty to charges of publication of false news and offensive conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace.
The matter has been adjourned to October 7, 2025, for continuation
