An Accra-based law firm, A-List Attorneys Ghana PRUC, has launched a pro bono scheme to offer free legal services to people living in poverty and persons with disabilities.

Under the initiative, eligible applicants can request assistance for a range of legal matters through the firm’s website. The project was unveiled in Accra as part of the firm’s second anniversary.

Managing Partner Jerry John Kofi Asiedu said the move was a deliberate effort to formalise work the firm was already doing informally.

“This is our way of giving back to society,” he said. “Pro bono is an essential part of our DNA because of our humble beginning and our understanding of the challenges people face in accessing legal representation.”

He urged other lawyers to take on more pro bono cases and support the work of the Legal Aid Commission, arguing that justice must not be reserved for those who can afford private counsel.

Mr Asiedu recalled that A-List Attorneys, founded in 2023, was built on the conviction that the law should be used to advance fairness for all, including those on the margins of society.
