Two women are facing legal trouble after allegedly making abusive remarks about President John Dramani Mahama during a social media broadcast.

The women, Priscilla Duah Birago, a 29-year-old national service personnel, and Charity Dede Tetteh, also 29 and a beautician, appeared before the Adentan Circuit Court on charges of making offensive statements.

Prosecutors say the pair, on August 6, 2025, hosted a TikTok livestream where they attacked the President with insulting and inflammatory words. Among the remarks captured was a shocking statement suggesting they “would have been happier if the President had been involved in the helicopter crash and eaten by dwarfs,” while also accusing his administration of presiding over numerous deaths.

The case, presided over by Mrs. Angela Attachie, did not proceed to a plea stage. Instead, the court granted a request by Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo to remand the accused persons into police custody while investigations continue. The women are scheduled to reappear on September 2, 2025.

The prosecution told the court that the Republic of Ghana is the complainant in the matter. A forensic capture of the livestream has been secured as evidence. According to investigators, Birago further disseminated the offensive remarks via her TikTok handle, “Abena Birago.”

Police confirmed that the arrests were effected soon after the livestream, and investigations remain ongoing.
