The directive, dated April 23, 2025, was issued through the office of the Deputy Judicial Secretary and is directed at the Registrars of the High Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court.

The Acting Chief Justice of Ghana, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, has introduced a new directive requiring that all newly filed cases and applications in the superior courts be routed through his office for assignment and scheduling.

The directive, dated April 23, 2025, was issued through the office of the Deputy Judicial Secretary and is directed at the Registrars of the High Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court.

The directive mandates that all fresh legal filings—whether civil, criminal, or procedural applications—must be reported directly to the Acting Chief Justice. This measure is to ensure that the allocation of cases and the empanelling of judges, particularly in courts with multiple panels, are centrally managed.

It further stipulates that the setting of hearing dates will also be overseen by the Chief Justice’s office, effectively streamlining and centralizing the scheduling process.

The memo emphasized that this new arrangement supersedes all previously established procedures regarding court assignments and hearing timelines and will remain effective until officially revoked.

All court registrars have been instructed to comply with the directive without exception.
