The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has removed the Paramount Chief of Kenyase No. 2, Nana Kwabena Nsia Ababio, from office.

The destoolment was carried out during a meeting of the Asanteman Traditional Council on Monday, July 27, 2026.

Nana Nsia Ababio was removed over breaches of Asante customs and traditions.

The decision also affected nearly all his kingmakers, who were found to have violated their oath of office.

The Asantehene, however, spared the Kontihene.

Otumfuo also reinstated the destooled Akyeame and other linguists within the traditional council.

The ruling forms part of the Asantehene’s exercise of traditional authority over matters of custom, oath-taking and chieftaincy discipline within Asanteman.
