The Kumasi High Court has thrown out a legal challenge brought by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) against the results of three parliamentary constituencies in the Ashanti Region following the 2024 general elections, affirming the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) victories.

The NDC had filed petitions contesting the declared outcomes in Ahafo Ano South-West, Obuasi East, and Ahafo Ano North, insisting that its candidates had legitimately won those seats despite official recounts and the subsequent inauguration of the NPP representatives.

However, Clement Opoku Gyamfi, counsel for the NPP Members of Parliament, argued that the NDC’s petitions were procedurally flawed. He pointed out that the NDC failed to apply for the determination of security for costs within the legally mandated 21-day period after the election results were gazetted.

In a unanimous decision delivered by two separate High Court judges from Courts 2 and 6, the bench ruled that the NDC’s petitions were invalid. The court consequently dismissed the cases, confirming that the three NPP MPs would continue to serve their respective constituencies in Parliament.
