A 21-year-old barber accused of stealing GH¢6,000 at Apatrapa in the Kwadaso Municipality has been granted bail in the same amount, with one surety to be justified, by the court.
Gerrard Dwomo, who pleaded not guilty, is set to reappear before the Asante Akropong Circuit Court in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District on January 29, 2025.
As part of the bail conditions, authorities will verify his provided address, AP13-Apatrapa, to confirm its authenticity before the bond is executed.
Police Chief Inspector Ruth Gborson, presenting the case, identified Juliana Owusu Gyamfi, a resident of Apatrapa, as the complainant.
According to the prosecution, on January 11, 2025, around 7 a.m., Juliana discovered that GH¢6,000 was missing from her handbag, which she had placed in front of her dressing mirror.
Upon reviewing footage from her doorbell camera, she allegedly saw Dwomo taking the money. She subsequently reported the incident to the Abuakwa police.
During the investigation, officers recovered items—including a bracelet, waist bag, and ring—that matched those worn by the suspect in the footage.
Despite denying the allegations in his caution statement, further investigations led to his formal charge and court appearance.
