The warrant, dated May 13, 2025, and signed by Presiding Judge Prince Osei Owusu, commands that Constable Appiah, who is attached to the National Formed Police Unit in Tesano, Accra, be apprehended immediately and brought before the court.

A district court in Achimota has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of General Constable Samuel Appiah, following serious allegations of defrauding nearly 200 individuals through a fake recruitment scheme.

The warrant, dated May 13, 2025, and signed by Presiding Judge Prince Osei Owusu, commands that Constable Appiah, who is attached to the National Formed Police Unit in Tesano, Accra, be apprehended immediately and brought before the court.

Allegations of Fraud

Constable Appiah stands accused of orchestrating a wide-reaching scam in 2024, in which he allegedly promised 197 young men and women placements in Ghana’s security services in exchange for money. The complainant, Sylvester Kofi Akudeka, reported the case to authorities on December 5, 2024.

According to the report, Appiah is believed to have collected a total of GHS 1.6 million from the unsuspecting victims using mobile contacts 050859824 and 0240180142. The money was allegedly solicited under the false pretense of securing employment opportunities in the armed forces and other security agencies.

Call for Public Support

The investigation, led by the Lapaz Police Station under the Tesano District Command, has reached a critical stage where the officer’s cooperation is now essential, according to Superintendent Isaac Ocansey, who signed off on the latest update.

Authorities say Constable Appiah’s current location is unknown, and efforts to reach him have so far proved futile. Police have therefore appealed to the public to assist with any information that may lead to his arrest.

Anyone with knowledge of Constable Appiah’s whereabouts is urged to contact the nearest police station.
