A 42-year-old businessman, Emmanuel Donkor, has been brought before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly allowing the sale of cannabis at his drinking spot. He faces charges of unlawful control of narcotic drugs and using his property for narcotics-related activities.

During police interrogation, Donkor admitted that the cannabis found in a glass jar at his establishment was for his personal use. However, his plea was not taken as the seized substance had been sent to the Police Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis.

Presiding over the case, Judge Isaac Addo granted Donkor bail set at GH¢50,000, requiring two sureties. The case has been adjourned to March 31, 2025.

According to the prosecution, led by Detective Chief Inspector Abel Amanie, the case was initiated following an operation by officers from the Drug Law Enforcement Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department in Accra.

On February 4, 2025, around 10:00 a.m., law enforcement conducted an anti-narcotics operation at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, specifically targeting "Pascal Drinking Spot" at Neoplan Station—an area suspected to be a hub for drug-related activities.

Police reports indicate that over 30 individuals, mainly young men and women, were present at the location. Upon noticing the officers, many fled the scene. A subsequent search led to the discovery of a small, dark, hard substance inside a glass jar behind the counter.

Donkor was taken into custody and, during investigations, admitted in his caution statement that the substance belonged to him for personal use. The case remains under investigation, pending forensic examination of the retrieved substance.
