The potential revocations follow a review of 1,278 licenses conducted by a special task team and submitted to the Sector Minister, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, on Monday, July 21, 2025.

The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has announced that 907 small-scale mining licenses are under threat of revocation following a comprehensive sector-wide audit aimed at restoring order and compliance in Ghana’s mining industry.

The potential revocations follow a review of 1,278 licenses conducted by a special task team and submitted to the Sector Minister, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, on Monday, July 21, 2025.

Out of the total, 316 licenses were cleared, while 962 were flagged for irregularities. Of those, 55 have already been revoked.

Common issues identified include:

Missing or incomplete documentation

Procedural inconsistencies

Data quality errors and gaps

The Ministry stated that the remaining 907 licenses could be revoked if the holders fail to rectify the issues by the set deadline.

To ensure fairness, a three-member committee has been set up to receive and process all petitions and documentation corrections. License holders with valid claims are encouraged to engage with the committee before the deadline elapses.
