The Constitution Review Committee (CRC) has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting an inclusive, transparent, and participatory review of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution, encouraging citizens to take full advantage of the final window for submitting written memoranda.
In a statement issued by the Committee’s Secretary, Dr. Rainer Akumperigya, the CRC announced that all public consultations will officially close tomorrow, Wednesday, August 6, 2025, following its final scheduled engagements with the Council of State and the Trades Union Congress (TUC).
The call for memoranda follows the successful completion of nationwide zonal consultations, which culminated with a final session in Kumasi on August 1. These engagements allowed citizens across the country to share views and propose amendments aimed at modernizing Ghana’s constitutional framework.
“In light of this, the public is reminded and encouraged to take advantage of the remaining window to submit written memoranda to the committee,” the statement read, urging submissions via the official CRC email: submissions@constitutionreviewgh.org.
The Committee expressed heartfelt gratitude to the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) for its partnership, as well as to traditional authorities, CSOs, regional officials, and the general public for their active participation throughout the process.
The CRC, chaired by Professor H. Kwasi Prempeh and established by President John Dramani Mahama on January 25, is tasked with reviewing Ghana’s constitutional structure in light of the country’s current democratic, social, and economic realities. The committee’s work includes revisiting past recommendations, consulting key stakeholders, and proposing reforms to strengthen national governance.
