The case involving the second preacher accused of vandalizing vehicles at the Parliament House car park has been postponed to Monday, January 27.

The adjournment was necessary as the trial judge was engaged in relieving duties at another court.

On December 20, 2024, the court, presided over by Judge Samuel Bright Acquah, handed a five-year prison sentence to Kofi Okyere Sorkpa, an accomplice in the case, for damaging the windscreens of five vehicles at the car park.

Sorkpa, 33, was convicted on two counts—three years for conspiracy and five years for causing damage—both sentences to run concurrently.

Meanwhile, the second accused, Wisdom Ahli, remains in custody as investigations continue. The prosecution indicated that his charges required amendment due to defects in the initial charge sheet.

During a previous court session, Superintendent of Police Augustine Yirenkyi explained that on December 18, 2024, at approximately 11:00 AM, Sorkpa and Ahli, both preachers from Kasoa, unlawfully entered the Parliament House car park.

Sorkpa was reportedly carrying a handbag containing an earth chisel, which they allegedly used to smash the windscreens of two Toyota Land Cruiser SUVs, two Toyota Camry sedans, and a Toyota Rav 4.

Ahli was said to have encouraged Sorkpa as he carried out the destruction.

According to the prosecution, both suspects confessed to their involvement in their caution statements, which were given in the presence of an independent witness.
