The Interior Ministry has announced that the curfews in Chereponi and Bunkpurugu—two townships in the North East Region—are now officially over. This decision was made following recommendations from the North East Regional Security Council.

According to a statement issued by Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak on February 21, the move was largely motivated by the steadfast commitment of local chiefs and residents to maintaining peace, alongside noticeable improvements in the security situation.

The Ministry also expressed its thanks to the chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and residents for their contributions to the community's safety and encouraged them to continue resolving conflicts through peaceful means.
