Imprisoned rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs is expected to face over 10 new civil lawsuits in the coming days, according to attorney Tony Buzbee, who represents multiple accusers.
The statement follows the filing of a fresh lawsuit in New York on behalf of an anonymous male plaintiff who alleges that Combs assaulted him in 2015.
According to the lawsuit, the accuser, who was 23 at the time, was performing at an event attended by Combs. Later, at an afterparty, he claims he was drugged and subsequently assaulted.
Combs' legal team has denied all allegations against him, which include accusations of drugging, assaulting, and raping individuals. In addition to the civil lawsuits, the rapper is also facing federal charges of racketeering and sex trafficking, to which he has pleaded not guilty.
"Mr. Combs and his legal team have complete faith in the facts and the integrity of the judicial system," his attorneys stated in response to the latest case. "The truth will come out in court: Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone—man, woman, adult, or minor."
Buzbee, a Texas-based lawyer, has been involved in several lawsuits against Combs over the past year, including one that also named Jay-Z as a defendant. Jay-Z has denied those claims and has sought to have the case dismissed.
The attorney revealed plans to file more than 10 additional lawsuits in the next week as the March 1 deadline approaches. This marks the final day of a temporary law in New York that allows survivors of past sexual assault to pursue civil cases even if the statute of limitations has expired.
The recent lawsuit dates back to 2015 when the plaintiff was invited to perform at a Los Angeles nightclub event where Combs was present.
According to court documents, an associate of Combs informed the performer that the rapper was aware of his talent and would be watching. The plaintiff was led to believe that a strong performance could lead to discussions about signing with Bad Boy Records, the influential record label Combs established in 1993.
Following what he believed was an outstanding performance, the plaintiff was invited to an afterparty. The VIP area featured numerous bottles of Ciroc, Combs' vodka brand, along with illicit substances such as marijuana, cocaine, and ecstasy, the lawsuit alleges.
The legal filing states that one of Combs’ associates handed the accuser a drink, claiming it was from the rapper. Shortly after consuming it, he began feeling lightheaded and soon realized he had been drugged. He allegedly lost consciousness.
While slipping in and out of awareness, the plaintiff claims he witnessed Combs and his entourage engaging in group sexual activities with attendees who appeared either drugged, unconscious, or acting as paid escorts.
The plaintiff later regained consciousness while being assaulted by Combs, according to the lawsuit. When he attempted to leave, Combs' security reportedly intervened, and the rapper allegedly threatened to destroy his career.
At present, Combs is facing over 30 civil lawsuits related to allegations of sexual misconduct and assault. He remains in a New York jail awaiting trial on federal charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
