A Kaneshie District Court has granted bail of GH¢70,000 with two sureties to a driver involved in a fatal accident that claimed the life of a pedestrian.
The accused, Eric Arko, has yet to enter a plea and is set to reappear in court on March 19, 2025.
According to Police Chief Inspector Achana Apewah, the incident occurred on February 13, 2025, around 11:00 PM. Arko, driving a Mercedes Benz, struck 54-year-old Eric Kwame Anane Darko while traveling from Odorkor to Kasoa.
Darko sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
During the bail hearing, Arko’s legal counsel argued that he had a permanent residence and would cooperate with the investigation. The lawyer also assured the court that Arko had credible individuals to stand as sureties and would support the deceased’s family with burial arrangements.
