Voltic and WARL, both subsidiaries of CCBA (with WARL also part-owned by The Coca-Cola Company), are set to become part of ECCBC’s growing African portfolio.

Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company (ECCBC) has reached a landmark agreement to acquire Voltic (GH) Limited and West African Refreshments Limited (WARL) from Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA)—a move that significantly strengthens ECCBC’s foothold in the Ghanaian beverage market.

Voltic and WARL, both subsidiaries of CCBA (with WARL also part-owned by The Coca-Cola Company), are set to become part of ECCBC’s growing African portfolio. The deal allows ECCBC to consolidate its position as a leading Coca-Cola bottler in Africa and streamline operations in Ghana through an integrated beverage platform.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Voltic and WARL into the ECCBC family. This deal enhances our ability to serve Ghanaian consumers and drive local growth,” said Alfonso Bosch, CEO of ECCBC.

As the authorised Coca-Cola bottler in 13 North and West African countries, ECCBC brings over 30 years of experience, producing and distributing popular beverages including Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, and Voltic water. Headquartered in Casablanca, Morocco, the company operates in markets reaching over 160 million consumers and supports 35,000+ jobs directly and indirectly.

The acquisition also aligns with ECCBC’s broader ESG strategy, which focuses on long-term value creation for local communities and sustainable business development across Africa.

Sunil Gupta, CEO of CCBA, welcomed the transaction, stating:

“This allows us to sharpen our focus on our core markets in Southern and East Africa, where we see exciting long-term growth opportunities.”

CCBA, currently operating in 15 countries, remains the largest Coca-Cola bottler in Africa by volume, accounting for over 40% of all Coca-Cola beverages sold on the continent.

With this deal, ECCBC is poised to deepen its roots in Ghana’s beverage landscape—building on Voltic’s legacy and creating new value for customers, suppliers, and communities alike.
