The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has requested financial and operational records from the law firm Sarkodie Baffour Awuah and Partners as part of ongoing investigations.
In a confidential letter dated October 30, 2026, and signed by the Acting Executive Director of EOCO, Raymond Archer, the Office directed the Accra-based law firm to submit documents covering its financial and administrative activities from 2017 to 2025.
The request, made pursuant to Section 19 of the Economic and Organised Crime Office Act, 2010 (Act 804), seeks to assist EOCO in its investigations.
According to the letter, the law firm is required to provide its audited financial statements, together with evidence of taxes paid to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), including corporate tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), levies and withholding tax.
EOCO has also requested a list of all bank accounts operated by the firm, along with the corresponding bank statements.
In addition, the firm has been asked to produce its operating permits and renewal records from the relevant Metropolitan, Municipal or District Assembly, as well as a list of its employees, if any.
The Office has given the firm until November 6, 2026, to submit the requested information.
"We solicit your cooperation in this regard," the letter, signed by Raymond Archer, stated.
Although the letter confirms that EOCO is conducting investigations, it does not disclose the nature of those investigations, identify any suspected offence or indicate whether the law firm or any of its partners is being investigated for wrongdoing.
The request for information, therefore, does not in itself establish any criminal conduct on the part of the firm.
Section 19 of Act 804 provides a statutory framework for EOCO to request information and documents in connection with its investigative functions.
As of the date of the letter, the specific circumstances that prompted the request had not been disclosed in the correspondence.
The firm has been given seven days from the date of the letter to furnish the requested documents.
