The arrest comes two days after 47-year-old entrepreneur Irene Atubiga and her 57-year-old uncle, George Atubiga, were allegedly shot at their residence at NTHC Estate in Sakumono.
The Ghana Police Service has arrested Samuel Osei Anto Christopher, the principal suspect in the killing of a businesswoman and her uncle at Sakumono in the Greater Accra Region.
The suspect, who had been on the run following the incident on Friday, October 30, 2026, was apprehended at a hideout after a police manhunt.
In a brief statement issued on Sunday, November 1, the Police confirmed his arrest and indicated that further information about the operation would be provided later.
The arrest comes two days after 47-year-old entrepreneur Irene Atubiga and her 57-year-old uncle, George Atubiga, were allegedly shot at their residence at NTHC Estate in Sakumono.
Irene was the Chief Executive Officer of Kussa Shea Bliss, a Ghanaian skincare and personal care company specialising in shea butter-based products. She was also a mother of two young boys.
GH¢500,000 debt allegedly behind shooting
Preliminary police investigations suggest that the incident may have arisen from a disagreement over an alleged GH¢500,000 debt involving George Atubiga and the suspect.
According to the Police, George had reportedly borrowed the money from Samuel Osei Anto Christopher but had failed to repay it.
Investigators believe the suspect visited the victims' residence on the morning of October 30, accompanied by a woman identified as Beatrice Mumuni, to demand repayment of the money.
A disagreement allegedly occurred during the encounter, after which the suspect is said to have shot George and his niece, Irene.
Officers from the Sakumono District Police Command subsequently responded to reports of the shooting and found both victims lying in pools of blood.
They were transported to a hospital but were pronounced dead by a medical officer.
Their bodies were later deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Police previously arrested female suspect
Following the shooting, the Police arrested 47-year-old Beatrice Mumuni, who allegedly accompanied the principal suspect to the residence.
Investigators suspect that she led him to the location before the shooting occurred.
Meanwhile, the Police declared Samuel Osei Anto Christopher wanted and announced a GH¢100,000 reward for credible information that could lead to his arrest.
His subsequent apprehension on November 1 marks a significant development in the investigation.
The Police have not yet disclosed the location of the hideout, the circumstances surrounding the arrest or whether any formal charges have been brought against the suspect.
Further details are expected from the Ghana Police Service as investigations continue.
The allegations against the arrested individuals remain subject to investigation and the applicable judicial process.
