The chief of Ejura in the Ashanti Region has made a call for the extension of the stay of military officers who are there to maintain law and order.

Barima Osei Hwedie II believes that the level of violence incited in the area still needs some urgent attention.

The military contingent was dispatched to the area after an incident in the area that has led to about 2 2 people dead and several others injured.

The clash occurred after the death of a colleague and social media activist, ‘Kaaka.’

The President of the Republic has since ordered the minister of interior to form a three-member committee whose duty is to unravel the causes of the incidents and submit its report within 10 days.

A ministerial committee chaired by Justice George Kingsley Koomson, an Appeals court judge has subsequently been set up and is expected to begin its sittings at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi today, July 6, 2021, where it will receive evidence from witnesses to bring the perpetrators of the Ejura violence to face the full rigors of the law.
