The accused persons are said to be suspects under investigation regarding the importation and auction processes of 250 metric tons of Lele rice from Thailand.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has filed a nolle prosequi, terminating the prosecution of three out of four persons charged for failing to declare their property and income.

Three public servants, and a civil servant, the accused persons are said to be suspects under investigation in respect of corruption-related offences regarding the importation and auction processes of 250 metric tons of Lele rice from Thailand.

In an update last Friday, the OSP said its new course of action was informed by compliance to its directive by three of those accused - James Keck Osei, an Administrator at the Office of the Vice President, John Abban, and Peter Archibald Hyde, both Senior Officers with the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority.

Meanwhile, the court adjourned to May 11, 2023, to take the plea of Issah Seidu, an employee at the National Insurance Commission, who is among those being investigated.

“The substantive case is still under investigations,” the OSP further said.
