The petition, dated October 12, 2026, alleges that the marriage has broken down beyond reconciliation because of the respondent’s unreasonable behaviour. Daniel Obinim, popularly known as “Angel Obinim”, is named as the respondent.

Gospel musician Florence Obinim is asking the High Court in Accra to dissolve her marriage to Bishop Daniel Kwadwo Obinim and award her GH¢4 million in alimony, according to an amended divorce petition.

The petition, dated October 12, 2026, alleges that the marriage has broken down beyond reconciliation because of the respondent’s unreasonable behaviour. Daniel Obinim, popularly known as “Angel Obinim”, is named as the respondent.

The couple married on April 24, 2004, at the Faith Assemblies of God Church at New Tafo Nhyiaeso and have three children, the petition states.

Florence alleges that her husband engaged in repeated adulterous relationships during the marriage. She says she previously forgave him following promises that he would change, but eventually concluded that he had no intention of doing so.

She further alleges that some of his purported partners confronted her publicly, drawing unwanted attention to her marriage.

The petition also accuses the respondent of discussing private marital disagreements from the pulpit. Florence claims those disclosures damaged her reputation and caused distress to their children. She says she intends to support these allegations with video recordings of his sermons.

She additionally alleges emotional and physical abuse, claiming that the respondent beat her on several occasions over matters that displeased him.

According to the petition, Daniel Obinim subsequently moved out of their matrimonial home without prior discussion, taking his belongings, including his bed. Florence alleges that he stopped providing her with upkeep money and effectively ceased communicating with her.

She says her family later returned the customary marriage drinks to his family, which accepted them.

On the couple’s assets, Florence maintains that the wealth accumulated during the marriage resulted from their joint efforts. She says her musical talent and public profile helped attract members to the International God’s Way Church, which she describes as having been founded by both parties.

She also claims that she put her music career on hold for nine years to help build the church and took primary responsibility for caring for their children.

Beyond the GH¢4 million alimony request, Florence is seeking orders granting her ownership of an apartment and a guest house in Accra, a house in Spain, and church premises at Tema for her ministerial work.

She is also asking for custody of their three children, GH¢10,000 in monthly maintenance for them, and an order requiring the respondent to provide health insurance or pay their medical bills. The petition proposes that he be granted reasonable access to the children.

Other reliefs sought include costs and any further orders the court considers appropriate.

The allegations represent the petitioner’s account and have not been established by a court.
