Four people, including two invigilators and two teachers, have been fined GH¢3,000 each for examination malpractice during the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination.

The Twifo Praso Magistrate Court in the Central Region convicted them after finding them culpable of separate offences linked to the ongoing BECE.

The case was heard by His Worship Cephas Atidzoe Esq., with Chief Prosecutor Joseph Kusah leading the prosecution.

The four convicted persons are David Kwabena Mensah, Ruth Ampah, Millicent Marfo and Kennedy Anokye.

Mr Mensah, 38, was convicted for leaking an examination paper.

The court heard that he used a mobile phone to take pictures of examination questions and later shared them on WhatsApp.

His conduct was held to be in breach of Section 4(b) of the West African Examinations Council Act, 2006.

Mrs Ampah was convicted for assisting candidates during the examination.

According to the prosecution, she dictated answers to candidates while the paper was ongoing.

The court found that her actions breached Section 20(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, as well as Sections 6 and 9 of the WAEC Act, 2006.

Millicent Marfo and Kennedy Anokye were also found guilty of conspiring to unlawfully possess examination materials.

The court said the two acted together at the Twifo Praso Senior High School Examination Centre.

Their conduct was contrary to Section 23 of the Criminal Offences Act and Section 3 of the WAEC Act.

Each of the four was fined GH¢3,000.
