The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has denied reports suggesting that around 60% of applicants in an ongoing recruitment exercise failed medical screening because they were HIV positive.

In a statement, the Acting Director-General of Public Relations, Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin (Ghana Navy), described the allegation as “FAKE NEWS” and urged the public to disregard it.

She said the medical screening process is still underway and that no official outcome has been released.

GAF said it is taking steps to identify the source of what it called a mischievous publication, and reminded media outlets, bloggers and content creators to verify information before circulating it.

The Armed Forces also advised the public to rely only on official GAF communications for updates on recruitment and medical assessments.
