In her address, Minister Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey highlighted the multifaceted nature of domestic violence—encompassing physical, emotional, sexual, and economic abuse.

The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MoGCSP), through its Domestic Violence Secretariat, has convened a stakeholder meeting to assess current legislative measures and introduce innovative support tools for survivors of domestic violence.

The gathering included legal experts, social workers, civil society organizations, development partners, and other key stakeholders, all focused on enhancing protections for survivors.

In her address, Minister Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey highlighted the multifaceted nature of domestic violence—encompassing physical, emotional, sexual, and economic abuse.

She acknowledged the shift from viewing such issues as private matters to recognizing them within a legal framework that encourages public discourse and structured interventions. Dr. Lartey expressed gratitude for the advocacy efforts of stakeholders and reaffirmed the government's commitment to strengthening policies that safeguard vulnerable populations.

Emphasizing the role of technology in combating domestic violence, the Minister advocated for the integration of artificial intelligence and digital platforms to bolster support systems for survivors.

A notable segment of the meeting featured legal expert Sheila Minkah-Premo, who provided an in-depth analysis of domestic violence laws, including Act 732, the Legislative Instrument (L.I.), and the National Plan of Action. Her presentation elucidated key legal provisions and their practical implications for both survivors and service providers.

Beyond legal discussions, the Ministry unveiled an enhanced version of the Boame SGBV Mobile Application—a digital resource designed to offer immediate assistance and information to survivors of sexual and gender-based violence.

The stakeholder meeting underscored MoGCSP's dedication to reinforcing domestic violence legislation and improving support mechanisms for survivors.
