The court presided over by Justice Marie-Louise Simmons, took this decision to allow for the resolution of two appeals pending before the Court of Appeal.

The Accra High Court has adjourned the trial of former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Mr. Kwasi Nyantakyi, and the former Northern Regional GFA President, Abdulai Alhassan to October 16, 2024.

The court presided over by Justice Marie-Louise Simmons, took this decision to allow for the resolution of two appeals pending before the Court of Appeal.

Mr. Nyantakyi is standing trial for alleged fraud and corruption following a 2018 undercover investigation by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, titled ‘Number 12.’

Both accused persons have meanwhile pleaded not guilty.

The prosecution has filed an appeal challenging an order of the High Court for Anas to unmask before Mr Nyantakyi in chambers before testifying.

Lawyers for Mr Nyantakyi have also filed an appeal.

The presiding judge had in previous proceedings, threatened to discharge Mr Nyantakyi if progress was not made.

In 2018 video investigative documentary by Anas revealed Nyantakyi and other football officials engaging in corrupt practices.

As a result, Nyantakyi resigned from his roles at the GFA, CAF, and FIFA, and was initially banned for life from football, which was later reduced to a 15-year ban.

Nyantakyi claimed that Anas, through his lawyers, demanded $150,000 to suppress the story but accepted $100,000.

After the video’s release, Nyantakyi sought a refund, which he received in installments.

Anas denied these allegations on social media, reaffirming his commitment to exposing corruption through his investigative network, Tiger Eye.

He emphasized that any criminal dealings were solely between Nyantakyi and the alleged recipient, and urged Nyantakyi to pursue legal action if his claims were true.
