Speaking at the Regional Police Commanders' Conference, COP Yohuno highlighted the alarming rise in criminal activities linked to illegal mining, particularly in the Western North region. He revealed that armed groups associated with these operations have carried out violent attacks on civilians and forest guards.

He urged Regional Commanders to adopt a unified and strategic approach to tackling the menace, stressing that enforcement must be swift and decisive.
"We are declaring war on illegal mining, and I expect every regional commander to take decisive action to bring perpetrators to justice," he concluded.
