The Minister-designate for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has called for a revision of the District Assemblies Act to empower local authorities in developing tailored tourism initiatives within their communities.
During her vetting on Wednesday, January 22, Madam Gomashie highlighted the vast, yet largely untapped, tourism potential at the district level. She suggested an updated legal framework could encourage innovation and creativity in local tourism efforts.
Additionally, she emphasized the importance of revitalizing the Centers for National Culture across the country, recognizing them as crucial spaces for nurturing young talent and preserving Ghana’s cultural heritage.
Madam Gomashie also pointed out that the tourism sector presents accessible opportunities for young people with creative talents, referring to it as a sector rich with "low-hanging fruits" for employment and economic growth.
She reaffirmed her commitment to collaborating with stakeholders to enhance the tourism industry, ensuring it becomes a dynamic contributor to national development.
