A nurse at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, popularly known as Ridge Hospital, has dragged social media activist Ralph Saint Williams—widely called Ralph De Fellow Ghanaian—to the High Court over allegations of assault and defamation.
In her suit, Rejoice Tsotsoo Bortei is demanding GH₵7 million in damages, broken down into GH₵5 million for physical assault and GH₵2 million for reputational harm. She is also asking the court to order Mr. Williams to issue a public apology, stop publishing defamatory remarks about her, and stay at least 50 meters away from her.
According to the writ, the incident occurred on August 17, 2025, while Ms. Bortei was on duty at the hospital’s emergency ward. She claims Mr. Williams entered the ward with several men, demanding immediate treatment for a finger injury. When asked to follow hospital procedures, he allegedly became aggressive, hurled insults, and filmed staff and patients without permission.
The nurse further alleges that during the altercation, Mr. Williams struck her with a clenched fist and a metallic phone, leaving her with injuries to her arm, shoulder, waist, and chest, and triggering severe headaches, chest pains, and panic attacks.
After the confrontation, Ms. Bortei says the activist compounded the assault by releasing a live-streamed video accusing her of lying and fabricating injuries “to cover up the nonsense at the hospital.” She contends that the remarks tarnished her image as a professional nurse and portrayed her as dishonest and unfit for duty.
The case is yet to be heard.
