Effective Tuesday, September 9, 2025, the curfew will now be enforced from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. daily.

The Ministry of the Interior has announced a change to the existing curfew hours in Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Township and surrounding areas in the Savannah Region, citing ongoing security concerns stemming from land disputes.

Effective Tuesday, September 9, 2025, the curfew will now be enforced from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. daily. This update replaces the earlier directive issued on Wednesday, August 27, which had restricted movement from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

The revised curfew was implemented through Executive Instrument and based on recommendations from the Regional Security Council, according to a statement signed by Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak.

The ministry also reminded residents that several key restrictions remain in place and will be strictly enforced:

Total ban on the possession or use of firearms, ammunition, and offensive weapons. Violators will be arrested and prosecuted.

No more than one person is allowed to ride a motorbike at a time during the day.

Wearing of war attire or regalia is strictly forbidden.

These measures follow renewed tensions in the area, particularly over land ownership disputes, which have raised security alarms and prompted increased government intervention.

Authorities are urging community members to support efforts to restore calm and avoid actions that could further destabilize the region.
