About JESSUP 2023

Regarded as the “World Cup of International Law,” the Jessup Competition is the world’s largest moot court competition, with more than 650 teams from nearly 100 countries competing every year. Now in its 64th year, the Jessup Competition is also the oldest in the world devoted to international law.

The Competition is a simulation of a fictional dispute between countries before the International Court of Justice, the judicial organ of the United Nations. The Jessup 2023 Competition concerns the interpretation of a peace treaty, deadly attacks in allegedly occupied territory, unilateral economic sanctions, and the legal consequences of failing to dispose of hazardous waste properly.
