The 48-year-old has been charged with offensive conduct and threatening to harm Detective Chief Inspector David Anaba and his family.

Politician Kweku Osei Korankye Osei, popularly known as Koka, has been granted bail after appearing before an Accra Circuit Court over an alleged threat against a police officer.

The 48-year-old has been charged with offensive conduct and threatening to harm Detective Chief Inspector David Anaba and his family.

He pleaded not guilty.

The court granted him bail in the sum of GH¢200,000 with three sureties.

All the sureties are to be justified with landed property.

Koka is expected to return to court on July 15, 2026.

Chief Inspector Wisdom Alorwu, prosecuting, told the court that the complainant is an officer with the Regional Criminal Investigations Department in Accra.

The prosecution said the incident followed a complaint of alleged threat of death made on May 13, 2026.

The complaint had been lodged by Nana Boadi Amponim Obodadi against one Kennedy Ofori Anokye.

The matter was referred to Detective Chief Inspector Anaba for investigation.

According to the prosecution, the officer invited Anokye to assist with investigations.

Anokye later reported to the Regional CID Headquarters in the company of Koka and several others.

The court heard that while at the CID premises, some members of the group were seen taking photographs and recording videos of the complainant.

The prosecution said they did not give any satisfactory explanation when asked whether they had permission from the Police Command to record within the premises.

Koka later granted a media interview which was circulated on various platforms.

In the video, prosecutors allege that he threatened the complainant and his family with words intended to cause fear and disturb public peace.

He has denied the charges.
