According to the prosecution, Usif received GH¢123,000 in cash from a customer on March 20, 2026, for the purchase of three tricycles, commonly known as Pragyia.
A 26-year-old labourer has been sentenced to three years in prison with hard labour after admitting to stealing GH¢123,000 belonging to his employer at Essamang Kakraba in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality.
Nuredeen Issaka pleaded guilty to charges of stealing and unlawful entry before the Tarkwa Circuit Court.
The prosecution, led by Police Detective Chief Inspector Bright Nkansah, told the court that Issaka worked with Mumud Atiiga Enterprise, a business dealing in motorcycles and tricycles.
The complainant, Abdul Rauf Usif, is the company’s sales manager.
According to the prosecution, Usif received GH¢123,000 in cash from a customer on March 20, 2026, for the purchase of three tricycles, commonly known as Pragyia.
Because the tricycles were not immediately available, he kept the money in his room located within the company’s premises.
On April 21, however, Usif discovered that the cash had disappeared from a backpack in the room.
In an attempt to identify the person responsible, he reportedly concealed his mobile phone in the room and used it to record activities taking place there.
The footage later captured Issaka entering the room, searching through the bag and taking GH¢120 from it, the prosecution said.
Usif subsequently reported the matter to the police, suspecting that Issaka was also responsible for the earlier disappearance of the GH¢123,000.
Issaka was arrested on April 25 and, according to prosecutors, admitted taking the money.
Investigations further revealed that he had transferred portions of the funds to several people.
The court heard that GH¢61,000 was sent to one Alhaji Mahmud, while GH¢22,000 was transferred to Illiasu Yahaya. Another GH¢17,103 was allegedly sent to a third person.
Alhaji Mahmud and Yahaya later returned GH¢61,000 and GH¢22,000 respectively.
Issaka also told investigators that he had spent part of the money on food and clothing.
In addition to the three-year custodial sentence, the court ordered him to refund GH¢40,000 to the complainant.
