The Rent Control Department under the Ministry of Works and Housing has transitioned its services to an online platform.
This move aims to improve efficiency and better support landlords and tenants.
During the launch of the department's digitalization project, Dr. Prince Hamid Armah, Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, explained that the new system would help alleviate common frustrations related to housing issues.
He highlighted that the platform allows landlords and tenants to interact with the department remotely, avoiding the need for physical visits.
"Whether registering a property, filing a complaint, or resolving disputes, everything can now be done from the comfort of your home or office," Dr. Armah said.
He further noted that the automated system would enhance the speed and transparency of processes like property registration and dispute resolution, offering real-time service delivery.
The platform also introduces a Digital Tenancy Agreement, allowing for electronic paperwork handling, saving both time and resources.
Additionally, unique digital property addresses will be assigned to all rented properties, providing greater clarity in the rental market.
Stephen Yaw Osei, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Works and Housing, emphasized that the initiative integrates technology and ensures that the department’s services are more transparent and accessible.
