The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, has proposed the creation of a fast-track court dedicated to prosecuting individuals responsible for destroying Ghana’s forest reserves.

In an with JoyNews on Wednesday, Mr. Buah expressed confidence in the initiative, highlighting also the positive response from the Chief Justice.

When asked whether he had formally discussed the proposal with key legal authorities, the minister confirmed that discussions had already taken place at the highest levels of Ghana’s justice system.

Mr. Buah emphasized that tackling illegal activities in the nation’s forests requires a joint effort, as the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources lacks direct enforcement power.

The minister's call for a dedicated court is aimed at expediting prosecutions and strengthening the country’s fight against illegal mining, logging, and other destructive activities threatening Ghana’s forests.
