Lawyers in the Greater Accra Region will take a break from courtroom duties on July 2, 2025, as the legal community comes together to celebrate the maiden edition of the Greater Accra Regional Bar’s Law Week.
In a letter issued by the Acting Judicial Secretary, approval was granted by His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, Acting Chief Justice, for all lawyers in the region to be excused from court proceedings on that day. The move is to enable full participation in the association’s first-ever Law Week celebration.
The event, themed "The Future-Fit Lawyer: Embracing Technology, Entrepreneurship, Excellence, and Service to the Community," will take place on July 2, 3, and 5 at the Accra International Conference Centre. It is designed to spotlight the modern demands of the legal profession and inspire lawyers to align their practice with global trends.
As the legal landscape shifts rapidly—fueled by innovation, new client expectations, and increased competition—the Law Week aims to encourage legal professionals to evolve with the times. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of tech adoption, entrepreneurial thinking, and community-oriented service.
A series of enriching activities is scheduled throughout the week, including
Conferences and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) sessions
Networking opportunities
Legal aid clinics
Prison outreach initiatives
Industry engagement forums
A black-tie dinner and dance
Participation will be subsidized, depending on sponsorship, and all members are encouraged to take part actively to mark this historic milestone.
With this event, the Greater Accra Bar hopes to foster a forward-looking, service-driven, and tech-savvy legal community ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
