The couple stands accused of redirecting GH¢39.46 million into their private company during the course of the transaction.
Kwabena Adu-Boahene, former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), and his wife, Angela Adjei-Boateng, have filed an application at the High Court in Accra for bail following their arrest in connection with a $7 million cyber-defense software deal.
The couple stands accused of redirecting GH¢39.46 million into their private company during the course of the transaction. Though Mr. Adu-Boahene was previously granted police inquiry bail set at GH¢120 million, and his wife at GH¢80 million — both with justification — they have been unable to satisfy the conditions required for their release.
Their lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, filed an application today (March 25, 2025), challenging the terms set by the Attorney-General’s office and the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). He described the bail conditions as excessively stringent, arguing they were designed to prolong his clients’ detention beyond the constitutionally permitted 48 hours.
Atta Akyea also accused EOCO’s Deputy Executive Director, Raymond Archer, of obstructing access to legal counsel by ignoring his outreach on behalf of the detained couple.
The High Court is scheduled to hear the bail request on Friday, March 28, 2025.
