Ghana’s Constitution Review Committee will today formally hand over its final report to President John Dramani Mahama, in what government says is a key step in efforts to update the country’s 1992 Constitution.

The ceremony, scheduled for 14:00 GMT at the Jubilee House, will cap months of public hearings, technical work and written submissions gathered across the country.

Minister for Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu said the committee had drawn on views from ordinary citizens, civil society groups, traditional leaders and professional associations, with the aim of closing gaps exposed over three decades of constitutional practice.

He added that the recommendations are expected to guide potential reforms to deepen good governance, enhance accountability and consolidate Ghana’s democracy.

Once the report is submitted, President Mahama will review the proposals and announce the next steps, which could include further consultations and policy or legislative action. Mr Kwakye Ofosu stressed that any follow-up measures will be anchored in broad participation, transparency and fidelity to constitutional processes.
