Atsu Kudiabor Issaka appeared before the court on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, on charges of falsely pretending to be a public officer, stealing and possessing a military camouflage uniform.

A 32-year-old man accused of posing as a soldier and extorting money from members of the public has been remanded by the Ashaiman District Court.

Atsu Kudiabor Issaka appeared before the court on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, on charges of falsely pretending to be a public officer, stealing and possessing a military camouflage uniform.

His plea was not taken.

The court, presided over by Derick Parden Eshun, remanded him into police custody to reappear on September 29, 2026.

Inspector Henry Tetteh Nartey, prosecuting, read the charges and facts to the accused.

According to the Tema Regional Police Command, Issaka is an ex-convict.

Police say he was arrested on Wednesday, September 16, at about 7:00 a.m. at an area known as “I Shall Return” in Ashaiman.

The arrest was reportedly carried out by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service with support from other persons.

Police allege that Issaka had been parading himself as a soldier and extorting money from unsuspecting members of the public.

A search conducted on him allegedly led to the retrieval of a set of military camouflage uniforms.

The Tema Regional Police Command has urged the public to be vigilant and report persons who falsely present themselves as soldiers or members of other security agencies.

Police say such impersonators often use false identities to deceive or extort money from the public.
