Raymond Amponsah is accused of stabbing Matthew Tanokah in the stomach during a confrontation at North Suntreso.
A disagreement over a car battery has led to the remand of a 53-year-old mechanic by the Kwadaso Circuit Court.
Raymond Amponsah is accused of stabbing Matthew Tanokah in the stomach during a confrontation at North Suntreso.
He pleaded not guilty to causing harm and has been remanded into prison custody until June 16, 2026.
Police Chief Inspector David Opoku Kwabi told the court that the incident happened at about 4:30pm on April 27, 2026.
According to the prosecution, the confrontation took place in the presence of the complainant, Methuselah Dadzie, who is the victim’s brother.
The court heard that during the misunderstanding, Amponsah allegedly stabbed Mr Tanokah and fled.
The victim bled heavily and was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment.
Police later traced Amponsah to his hideout with the help of the complainant and arrested him on April 28.
The prosecution said Amponsah later led investigators to the scene on May 1 but could not produce the knife allegedly used in the attack.
He reportedly told police he had disposed of it after the incident.
During investigations, Amponsah admitted the act but claimed he reacted after the victim slapped him.
He was subsequently charged and put before the court.
